MVEC Board Member Nila Wipf Passes Away

Mercedes, TX: 08/18/2021: Magic Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) Board Member Nila Wipf passed away August 17, 2021. Ms. Wipf joined the MVEC Board in 2011 and represented the Cooperative’s District 3, which encompasses North Harlingen, Northwest Cameron County and East Central Hidalgo County. Ms. Wipf served on the board of directors for ten years.

“Nila was a dedicated MVEC member and board member,” said general manager John Herrera. “Her contributions to the Cooperative and her district will most certainly be missed.”

In addition to serving on MVEC’s Board of Directors, Ms. Wipf was also a well-known and respected realtor in the Harlingen area and throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Ms. Wipf was also instrumental in garnering support from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s International Program to develop a safety program at Batangas II Electric Cooperative in the Philippines. The safety program that was developed was also to be used at other electric cooperatives throughout the Philippines.

Ms. Wipf continued to contribute to the Cooperative until her passing and will always be remembered for her many contributions to MVEC. Her warmth, positivity and dedication will never be forgotten as she impacted many lives throughout her time on the board. She will be greatly missed. We extend heartwarming condolences to her family and loved ones.
