Helping Heal Hearts In the RGV

A generous $7,000 donation from the Magic Valley Employee Community Fund will help heal hearts of parents and children in the Valley.  Children’s Bereavement Center Rio Grande Valley offers grief counseling services for grieving children, youth, their families and the community. The center began offering direct services, including peer support groups and individual counseling, in early 2017. Capital Credits The retirement of capital credits is the tangible demonstration of your ownership in Magic Valley. Magic Valley Returns $5.5 Million in Capital Credits to Members As a member-owned cooperative, MVEC operates as a not-for-profit utility. This year your board of directors has approved to retire capital credits to those consumer-members who received electric service in 1998 and a portion of capital credits in 2018. What are Capital Credits? Any profits made by the cooperative are referred to as margins. Magic Valley employees raise $7,000 for CASA of Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy Counties.

Magic Valley employees presented checks in the amount of $3,500 to CASA of Hidalgo and $3,500 to CASA of Cameron and Willacy Counties.    This funding will help the Hidalgo, Cameron and Willacy county-based programs continue training dedicated volunteers, increase the number of volunteers trained each year, and ensure that 100 percent of children placed into foster care in the Rio Grande Valley have a voice.  “The mission of CASA of Hidalgo County is to provide trained and supervised volunteers to speak for the best interest of abused and neglected children who are involved in the child welfare system,” said Veronica Whitacre, Executive Director of...
