2025 Powering Guatemala

It fills us with great pleasure to announce that, for the second time, MVEC has proudly participated in the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (NRECA) International program. Two MVEC linemen, Emanuel Yanez and Felix Gauna, worked diligently alongside other Texas cooperative linemen to help bring electrical power to the village of Ixcan, Guatemala during the month of November 2025.

MVEC first participated in this program in 2023 and we were excited to take part again. This program brought linemen together from cooperatives across South Texas, strengthening both the cooperative spirit and sense of community.

Special thanks to NRECA International, which for 60 years has served as a global ambassador dedicated to building electrical infrastructure in remote communities such as Ixcan, Guatemala.

MVEC is grateful to be part of this effort and proud of our linemen Emanuel and Felix for volunteering for this meaningful assignment. The electrical infrastructure they helped build will play a vital role in supporting education, economic growth, safety, and healthcare.

We also want to extend our heartfelt appreciation to their families for supporting their decision to take part in this altruistic endeavor. Over the course of two weeks, our linemen faced a tremendous challenge, and we proudly commend Emanuel and Felix for their dedication. Thank you both for a job well done.
